Crowns and Bridges

What Are Crowns and Bridges?

Crowns and bridges are the most used dental restoration techniques in the world. Crowns are an ideal way to rebuild teeth which have been broken, or which have been weakened by decay.

A dental crown is a tooth shaped cap that sits completely over your tooth, right down to the gum line. It protects your tooth from the forces of chewing, protecting the tooth underneath and improving its appearance; giving it back the size, shape, color to and the contour of a natural tooth.

A Dental bridge is a fixed option to cover or “bridge” the gap between missing teeth. After you lose a tooth, your dentist may suggest you to get a bridge. A bridge can keep your other teeth from moving out of place. Once a bridge is placed, it works just like your natural teeth.

How Long Do Crowns & Bridges Last?

On average crowns & bridges are expected to last for 10-20 years. But it is not unusual for it to last considerably longer. Well-planned and executed crowns & bridges & may last longer, but there are many factors like the quality of the support teeth, type of material used will influence the success of your dental bridge and hence the length of time it lasts.

How to Take Care of Your Restored Teeth?

  • Brush your teeth in the morning, at night to help reduce plaque buildup.
  • Make sure to floss around your teeth, dental implants, crowns, and bridges every day.
